Marathon Petroleum’s Expansion in Garyville, LA (GME)

Results

Marathon Petroleum’s Expansion in Garyville, Louisiana (GME), lasted over 31 months with a final cost of $4 billion and was one of the largest undertakings of its kind to be constructed in the United States. The expansion increased the crude oil production capacity of the refinery to 436,000 barrels per day, up from 256,000 before the project. The enormous size of the project made it a large challenge for any company contracted to work on the expansion.

I&I Soft Craft Solutions was awarded steam tracing, control tracing, insulation, painting and fireproofing on the Marathon Petroleum’s Garyville Expansion. The project peaked at 1,283 craft employees on site. We performed over 1 million workhours with an excellent safety record.
